[iTunes] ordering songs in a playlist

Is there some way to order songs in a playlist short of having 01, 02 etc in front of the names, which would mis-order them in other playlists? I've tried dragging to a new order, but it doesn't seem to work.

I'm on a Windows XP box, if that makes any difference.
