[iTunes] How play an iTunes CD?

I am new to this iTunes group. I have recently discovered the  
wonderfulness of iTunes. I am using a G5 with iTunes 9.03.

I have loaded several hundred, commercial music CDs and I would now  
like to burn some CDs which I want to play with my car radio/CD  
player. I  burned a CD with the open format, and another with the  
iTunes format, but I cannot make either to work in my car radio. I  
must be doing something wrong.

Can someone point me in the right direction?
