[iTunes] saving itunes library...

I closed down my copy of iTunes, and got a little bar saying "saving iTunes library" - but it's been going on for about 10 minutes. What's happening? I can't re-open iTunes until it stops, and I want to import a cd.

will I ruin anything if I just reboot my computer?

I'm using iTunes 9 on a Windows NT box, if that makes any difference. I closed down iTunes because it got stuck querying gracenotes for something that I knew wouldn't be in there.
