Apple has recently posted a knowledge base article pertaining to the issue.

Topic: After updating to Mac OS X 10.2.5, a kernel panic occurs a few
minutes after starting up.

At least there aware of the problem and hopefully the will have a patch
soon.  Fortunately I've been lucky enough to not be affected by it.
