Basically, yes, but as someone else said if an early bidder made the  
same bid as you they will get the item. The best way is to place the  
first bid and then get in the last one at the last second. Bidding in  
between just helps drive the price up. If you absolutely have to have  
the item, make a _big_ bid early, but ensures that the final price will  
be higher, if anyone else wants the item.
