Very cheap, very easy fan cooling.

With temperatures rising, I thought I'd share my cheap and easy
salvage fan mod:
With a new HD in my Cube, I began thinking about fans. But with the
new G5s out, it occurred to me that processor and video card upgrades
could be in my near future, and in completely unpredictable
configuration. Why bother with a complex internal fan mod in face of
that uncertainty?
So, with one salvaged fan, one battery bank from Radio Shack (to fit
8 AA; I've got many that are only half discharged), and a clothespin
I built my own in about 10 minutes. The fan sits on top of my vent;
the clothespin is attached to the corner of the fan, as if it rests
flat on the it rattles. It ain't pretty, but I've got my cooling
needs covered until the upgrade paths become clearer.
Cheers,
Erik
