DVD drive not ejecting

My Cube DVD drive never spits out the disc all the way - rarely more 
than enough for me to grab the disc with a pair of pliers. If I don't 
get at it fast enough, the drive takes it back and tells me the disc 
could not me ejected. Is there a way to fix this (lube, cleaning, 
etc) without disassembling and/or discarding the drive itself?
