Gotta agree with both sides here.

Soundsticks are great little inexpensive gismos with awesome sound for 
the price. (about $200 or so)  And they fit on the desk.

But if you want more then get the Griffin imic and shoot that line out 
to your stereo and those 300 watt, front L, R, C & rear L, R.
The sound is far clearer and you can hear it all (well at least 
whatever your stereo will give).
Cost?  Not much - the imic and cables are maybe $50 or so, and most of 
you probably own a stereo of some sort.  Sure the stereo costs more, 
but you already got it.
