[DigiCam] Slide scanner or copier?

I have a boat load of slides that I need to copy to digital file and /or
photo CD. I am considering purchasing a good slide scanner as getting it
done commercially is pretty expensive for the best quality (unless someone
has a good resource for getting them on CD). LMK

Anyone have any recommendation for a good slide/film scanner? I prob will
get one that is in the 4000 dpi range. Would you recommend firewire over
USB? I am on a Mac running OS 9.1

Also I just ran across a slide copier that screws in to the front of the
lens of an SLR. Has anyone use these units? I am thinking that one of these
and my Digital Rebel would work for good quality scans and I wouldn't have
to spend more money on a complete scanner.

Lists it as for Sony but it is camera indefferent.
