One more point before you dive into it.

Consider your needs, consistent with your picture taking habits
to determine your memory and battery requirement.  For example,
would you, when on vacation as a tourist, leave  your hotel for a day
of picture taking?  Batteries: Nikon said they take 2 hours charging 
time.
They don't say how long they will last between charges!  Do you need
one or two extra batteries?  A car charger?  The answers depend on your
unique situation.

How many pictures will you want to take between opportunities to
download your pictures from your camera to your computer?  How many
will fit the 128 MB memory if you use the highest resolution JPG 
compression
format (assuming that this would be your typical quality/resolution 
setting.
Will you need additional memory?

These could be near future additional expenditures to be aware of 
before you buy.
