[Duo2400] best Firewire card

No idea, but I've had zero problems with my IBM 1394 card which I got
from OWC (www.macsales.com), whose chief virtue was price: $30. They
don't seem to have it any more, but they have a Century card for the same
price, which I'm guessing would work just as well. I haven't really heard
of one card working better than another, since you don't have to rely on
third-party drivers. Anyway I've had the card work in 8.6 (see note
below), 9.1 and X.

Note that to get the 1394 card to work in OS 8.6, I had to install the
three 9.1 (or 9.2.1, or 9.2.2) FireWire extensions, which you can extract
from the 9.1 or 9.2.1 or 9.2.2 updater with TomeViewer. I think they have
to be version 2.7 or later; the latest is 2.8.5.

Ivan.
