I have a similar machine (2300c w/56MB 1GB <--- I will install a 2 or 4GB
soon ) running 9.1. I like 9.1 or higher.

Well in this case, then I would suggest 8.6 minimum. I have had pre-8.6
machines unable to communicate properly to higher OS machines using AppleTalk.

A common problem with these older PB's (and maybe all of them) is the
inverter board gives up. If you have another 1xx series machine the parts
are swapable. I will be doing this exact same work on a PB 160 for one of
my customers. Given I have a 170 and 145, I think I can keep the 170 and
part the 145. :)

You owe me 2 cents! ;)
