Mac OS CDs

Hello all! I am new to G4 ownership, but am looking forward to using my
466 Digital Audio. Anyway, I have been researching getting 9.x.x (and an
install CD of 10.x.x even though my machine came with it loaded) so I
can use all my older software. When I look at the disks being offered
around, I see many that say they are from iMac or eMac, but can be used
on any G4. Is that true? Why are they branded for a particular machine?
Will I be able to install them?
