[G4] Mandrake 8.2 onto a G-4 questions from a complete newbie to linux

I think your  making the disk the wrong way. I believe there is an 
option in Toast to burn a disk from an image. Don't try to mount the 
image first. That should solve your problem of making  bootable disk.
