is the "free" upgrade you are talking about the "if you bought office 
v.x after jan XX you can upgrade to office 2004 for free"  ???? if so, 
its not "free" at all, you still need to shell out the $400 for office 
v. x
otherwise, i know of no other "free" office deal...
