Excellent advice. Do check the xlr8yourmac site.

I can recommend the LG model mentioned above, which I used in a G4/350 with
9.2.2 and Jaguar, worked just perfectly. I paid close to $100 over a year
ago, but as someone said, prices have dropped into the $50 range.

Keep your eyes open for a deal on a Superdrive though. I was looking for a
Pioneer 106, thinking that when the 107 came out, prices on the 106 would
plummet. But I found the 107 at cheaper than the 106 was selling for! I
wouldn't be surprised to see the 106 drop to well under $100 soon. And yes,
you can burn DVDs on a G4/400.
