[G4] re: my hard drive

Go to Apple Support and search for "G4 hard drive firmware". Use this to 
update your mac. Your drive may be in trouble but this may save it. You 
will probably need to wipe your drive and reinstall everything. You may 
need to run this firmware even on a new drive to avoid corruption.
