I think you're faced with a key-hole slot in the mounting bracket, 
inside of which a screw head resides.
Once you loosen it up (by pulling the gray tab?)  you have to slide the 
drive one way or the other, to have the screw head line up with the big 
portion of the keyhole, after which it will just lift out...quite easily.
I believe the problem is you're trying to just lift up.
You must slide it to align that screw head with the hole.
Try that, see if that works.

This is just a guess on my part, but that's how it worked for me on my 
G3. I would think the G4 would be little different. Drives are drives... 
I think.
