Hi,
Its true!!, I don't know how to post this request for help to the G4
list or even how to find the list's website. I'm going to be very grateful
if you or anyone will help me "get on track" with much needed "knowhow".
Sincere apologies for not knowing how to work with the list.

I'm adding a Seagate ST3120026A Ultra ATA 100 hard drive to my Mac G4
Quicksilver 867. I've talked to Seagate's presales and also found some help
at various websites - enough to convince me to order the drive - which is
now on its way.
The unknowns that I (since ordering) have turned up in Apple support and
my PowerMac G4 manual indicate that my computer will NOT be compatible with
the new ultra drive set for CABLE SELECT MODE - the ST3120026A is set by
default to the CABLE SELECT MODE - sooo how do I change it? Also I believe I
incorrectly assumed that the drive came with everything I need for the
installation - I now belive I'm wrong!! Are the necessary interfacing and
power cables already in my G4 or must I go buy them? and if so, what are
the specifications and length of the cables?
Seagate seems to have earned great reviews from Mac users for this
product but provides very little website info for Mac users - there is a
little 1 minute movie that shows you how to open the side panel of the
Quicksilver but I can't find the other few minutes of video that would
easily answer my questions and build confidence.

Hopefully and with best regards,
Ray
