[G4] burning dvds with cdd 5101 philips

Your answer is in your posting.  You do not have a DVD burner, only a 
CD burner and DVD reader.
Your should read the model designation as: Compact Disk- 
ReadWrite/Digital Video Disk- Read Only Memory.
If it had been CD-RW/DVD-R/RW, it would indicate that you have a CD and 
DVD burner.
