Tony,

I went to http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org and they said

===================
Note: The last 3 statements mean that, BECAUSE this page is NO LONGER
maintained, no patch for the DVR-109 or any future Pioneer model will be
published here. It doesn't mean that there will be no patch ever, just that,
if there is one, you'll have to fetch it somewhere else. Get it?
===================

Also, how do you determine the version level? I went the System Profiler and
clicked on Disc Burning and did not see anything about the firmware version.
Mine says

PIONEER DVD-RW  DVR-109:

  Firmware Revision:    1.09
  Interconnect:    ATAPI
  Burn Support:    Yes (Vendor Supported)
  Profile Path:
/Library/DiscRecording/DeviceProfiles/PatchBurn-pioneerdvdrwdvr109.drprofile
  Cache:    2000 KB
  Reads DVD:    Yes
  CD-Write:    -R, -RW
  DVD-Write:    -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
  Burn Underrun Protection CD:    Yes
  Burn Underrun Protection DVD:    Yes
  Write Strategies:    CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
  Media:    No
