Hi - I'm headed to the Radio Shack to get another RCA cable tomorrow, because the contacts are VERY tight on the one I have now, and maybe I'm not getting a good seat. I'm trying to record audio from cassette from a Sharp Integrated Music System (this was a fine thing in its day, I'm sure, has a turntable to boot). The RCA cable fits into the AUX ports on the tape system. The other end of the RCA cable fits into the Y cable that goes into the iMic. The iMic gets plugged into one of the main USB ports on the back of my Mac. Apple System Profiler sees the iMic. Speech and Sound in System Preferences both see it, but the sliders don't register sound input - specifically, the Sound input is greyed out and the Speech sliders show some input but on the low end. In both of these I can select the iMic. When I try to record in both iMovie and Final Vinyl, there's no decibel level and there's no playback. In iMovie, the Record Music panel is greyed out - that seems suspicious of something. I've followed all of Griffin's directions, FAQs and support materials on their site and also done email correspondence. Griffin says they'll send me a new one. Or, I should upgrade to 10.2.8 (!!!) because perhaps the OS isn't supporting the iMic. Anybody with my OS version got one of these puppies to work? Anyone any ideas? As always, many, MANY thanks.
