[G4] Note on ATA buses in MDD Dual G4 and perhaps other Macs.

To remove any "menulet" from the menu bar click on it while holding  
down the apple  key and then drag it  off and release  the mouse  
button and the selected object will disappear with a puff of smoke.   
Note you can also use this to reorder and position the items too...
