[G4] More network questions

First, thank you for all your suggestions. I think I need to go 
wireless, as the modem doesn't have the Ethernet connection, and I 
don't know how to run cables through the floors, etc. OK, I have more 
questions.

1) What is a gigabase network card and what does it do? ( It comes with 
the new (used) QS I just bought.)

2) What do I need to buy besides an Airport card to go online with the 
2nd computer? Do I still need a router, cables, etc?
