[G4] Panther or Tiger?

Hi all -

I'm sort of wrestling with some wierdness in my Jaguar system and 
wondering if instead of doing archive and install maybe just skip to 
Panther or Tiger?

Apple Hardware Test showed all that stuff is a-ok, and I need to run 
Diskwarrior to see if I can find out what's up (DW hung up which is why 
the Hardware Test).
