[G4] Ibook Ethernet Connection

Since it's not clear from your description is this your set up?

                 Switch
DSL --- Router --- | (Uplink port connected to router)
                    | --- PC
                    | --- G at 400
                    | --- iBook
                    | (Empty port)

This says that you're not talking to the router.

At this point can you log into the router?


Is the link light for the switch port that the iBook is connected to on?

Have you tried switching with one of the known good cables?

Have you tried another port on the switch - in particular one of the  
two known good ports?
