Clean install is a specific term . not applicable here.

You should reset the "cuda" reset switch on the mother board . hold  
it down for 30 seconds.
You might want to switch to lesser monitor to get this going.
  You should boot up from your OS9 CD. Hold the C key till you see a  
desktop background.
Use the harddisk tools that are present in the CD boot to format your  
drive.
Then install the OS, still booted from the CD, to the newly  
frormatted HD.
