[G4] DVD IS NOT WORKING...

Looks like you cleaned out the bugs and then some...

Either upgrade to Tiger and see if that let's you see
your DVR (it should) or add patchburner which will see
your drive. 

Or you need a freeware upgrade for the DVR itself.
