[G4] g4 won't start- any ideas

You're supposed to unplug the unit, take the battery out, then press the PMU button--hold it for about one second--you should hear (or feel) a slight click.  Replace the battery (with a new one if it has less than 3v), close up the case and wait a minute before plugging it back in.  Pressing the PMU button too many times in succession will kill the battery.  The PMU (power management unit) chip controls the power to all components of the computer.
