Is it possible that you now have a totally different DSL modem and  
have not configured your network settings to recognize it yet?

I ask this because we recently installed a new wireless router/modem  
at work and I had to re-enter the appropriate password to be able to  
access the net via Airport. When we put the new device in, it made us  
change all our configuration data because it was a different brand.

I didn't have any symptom like the browser immediately quitting, but  
I could not get any site to load at all even though Airport was  
recognizing that there was a wireless net available and allowing me  
to enter the old password.
