[G4] Adding a Western Digital 160HD

Looks like if the WD160 is ATA Compatable, I don't need to change the pin configuation from 7,8. If not compatable, I need to add a jumpper across the 5,6 too. Do I try a start up to see if it is compatable? Or how do I find out before?

You should get the .pdf file listed below as it will tell you how to 
configure the drive prior to installation.

It's pretty important to get the pin configuration correct, it not the 
drive won't respond as expected.
