Suly: Click on the little apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen.

The first item listed is "About This Mac". Click on that.

Mine says:

OS X
Version 10.8.5
(There is also a button for "Software Update' that you can use to see whether there is any new software available for your computer.)

Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk Int. 500GB-1

There is another button labeled "More Info" where you can click on "System Report" and get tons more data about your computer.

The "Software Update" button will lead you to the data about updating your software.

Good luck!
