Unruly mouse

I took apart the bottom of my Apple Desktop Bus II mouse to clean it, and
now it won't do any clicking.

When I slide the cover around to release it, the ball came out easily. Not
much dust in the cavity, either. So I dropped he ball back in, put the over
on and slid it around. The mouse will respond to rolling all over the
screen, but not clicking.

What do I need to do to fix it? I am getting ready to sell my beige G3
tower, monitor, etc..., and need it the mouse to work.
