[MacDV] Digitaal 8 vs Mini DV

Last year when I was looking into buying our first camcorder, I did a lot of research, and it indicated that MiniDV was the better format.  Unfortunately I can't remember the specifics.  I *think* it might have had something to do with the resolution that the two record at, that would be something worth checking into.  Another thing to consider is which tape format has the longer on-tape lifespan.  I know that for computer use, an 8mm tape only has a 2 year lifespan.  I've never been able to learn how long of a lifespan a 4mm tape has.

All in all, I'd recommend doing your own research, read reviews of the two formats, and formulate your own opinions.
