Nope, it doesn't appear as a device.

Get a 4-6 FW cable (4 pin one end, 6 on the other). Connect 4
to your camera 6 to the computer.

Power on. Put in "play" mode (with a recorded DV tape in
there)

Launch iMovie. Use the control keys there to capture, whatever.
