Thanks Jean-Paul, This is also what I did on my iMac DV 400. However this new machine doesn't support OS9 anymore. You even cannot startup from a 9.x.x. bootable CD (like Norton SystemWorks) Is the following possible: My friend has a new iMac 17 inch (800Mhz) 1month older then mine He has OS9 on his machine and can boot from it. Is it possible to install FCP3 on his machine and put it on an iPod or external HD and take it with me? What do I have to copy then?? This question is for all listas Regards Hans de Bijl > >1 / start your computer from the Mac OS X Installation CD >2/ open the HD utility program >3/ make the partitions you want , on every partition the option : install >OS 9 driver should be activated >4) do the installation >5/ after the installation copy the OS 9 system folder on the partition you >want (orange 9 folder) > >6/ Afterwards you should be able to use whatever startup disk you want !? > >Of course you have to save all your data before ! > >That's what I do on my old imac DV 400 , I have 2 System olders ,one 9 and >one X.2.3 and this works on the old machines even on one partition. > > >
