Imagine Publishing probably did not bother to investigate them prior to 
accepting their payment for the ad, that's all. I'm sure once it's 
brought to their attention they will take steps to ensure that doesn't 
happen again.

It would be nice to think that the publishing companies would watch out 
for "obvious rip-off" ads but because the Mac community attracts very 
few such scam artists (relative to other communities) perhaps they just 
missed the warning signs. Most publishers, otoh, are pretty good about 
taking corrective steps once it's been shown that an advertiser is 
shady.
