I have all the top FCP books and my favorite book is Tom Wolsky's FCP3 Editing Workshop. He's not only one of the top FCP gurus, but a full time teacher, and his technical editor was Ralph Fairweather, who was Apple's FCP Quality Assurance person and co-founder of the 2-Pop website, for the first edition. It is recommended by Jim Heid (on the Amazon.com website) His book sort of follows the Adobe Classroom in a Book model, which I found to be the best way for a beginner to learn FCP or FCE. It has chapters/lessons and includes a tutorial CD that contains the raw material for you to work with. (If you buy Final Cut Express, you will have to trade the included CD for a DVD, since Final Cut Express can only work with DV footage). It's solidly practical, aimed doing, not theory. It has hardware requirements as well as explanations of the terminology and the circumstances where hardware matters (like the 3rd party capture cards) Its only $35 on Amazon.com <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/flex-sign-in/ref=cm_rate_rev_pagepos4/103 -1167952-1925409#rated-review> It has gotten really stellar reviews on all the Final Cut Pro forums/websites, like Creative Cow. net LAFCPUG Ken Stone's FCP 2-Pop.com just my .02 regards, sb On 3/30/03 5:54 AM, "Jonathan & Diana Long" <feal at tds.net> wrote: > I keep going in circles.... > > Where can I find online a basic guide for digital video editing that > includes hardware > > requirements?
