OT: Formatting an MS DOS disk in Jaguar

I use MacDrive and I highly recommend it.

After installing MacDrive on the PC, you can just plug the Mac firewire
drive into the PC's firewire port.
You then right click on the drive icon to open with MacDrive.

It came free with my WiebeTech external firewire drive.
