The best bang for the buck would be a dual G4 with superdrive.

If you do a lot of CD burning as well, you can go for either a 2nd internal
optical drive or an external CD burner.

It'a very easy to add a 2nd hard drive to a Mac tower, you can pick up a
highly rated Hitachi 120GB 7200rpm with 8MB cache for about $85 at
NewEgg.com. They also list a 160GB for about $125.
There are other online sites that have sales/specials or mail in rebates for
as low as $40 after rebate for Western Digital or Maxtor brand.

Get an internal DVD burner, just in case you want to use iDVD (version 4 is
pretty darn good.)
Buy Toast 6 too, and of course DVDSP2, if you are doing more complicated,
professional DVDs.

If you want to spend more, then go for a dual g5 w/superdrive refurb on the
Apple website. $2400.

Apple refurbs (at Apple Stores too) come with warranty, latest OS (but ask!)
etc. and iApps.
