imovie import loses sound

Hi All,

Just got my new g5, and i'm beginning to mess with imovie.

I have a slew of funny mpegs i want to put together in one movie. But 
when i drop the files into imovie it strips away the sound track.

Other files get an error number "-47" and can't be dropped in at all.

Any ideas?
