FireWire Card for TiBook

I have found myself in the position of needing to add more FireWire 
ports to my 1GH TiBook. So it looks like I need to get a FireWire PC 
Card.

I've found a couple of cheap ($29.99) cards at a local electronics 
store, but the boxes only list Windows requirements. Will these work 
with my TiBook running OS X? Or do these cards have Windows only 
firmware?

The card would either run an external hard drive for video capture or 
it would run a digital video camera. From your collective experience, 
any recommendations? Anything I should avoid?
