encoding for web video download

I need to put an approximately five-minute clip up on the web 
(downloading, not streaming) and would love to do it myself. Once I 
have the tape digitized, is there a straightforward path to making 
Quicktime, Realplayer, and Windows Mediaplayer versions?  Can this all 
be done within Quicktime Pro? I am going make the assumption that the 
downloading audience has cable/DSL, tho that's clearly not 100% by a 
long shot.
