It would be interesting to know what kind of camera made the tape.
I have a JVC HR DVS 2.  Some tapes it just doesn't like. The sony also 
just sometimes won't play a tape that will play in the JVC and 
vice-versa.
  Maybe an import from the camera would work better here.
