I concur completely.

For $50 more than a Canopus DA converter only, you can have a DV 
camcorder that doubles as a converter.  I've been using a Canon ZR 
for 3+ years to convert VHS tapes and record TV programs and it works 
perfectly.

Audio sync is NOT a problem if you set the Camcorder to record audio at 16 bit.
