You have a bunch of different choices.

One way to go is to buy the Miglia PCI card or EyeTV box (USB 2.0) It's kind
of like Tivo but using the Mac, for recording your programs. The conversion
is done in realtime. Then you can burn them to DVD, which takes the regular
amount of time (depends on your burner speed)

Another choice is to buy a converter box (my fav is the one from DataVideo
Tek) and then use iMovie or QTPro or some other capture program to convert
your movies, tapes, tv programs to digital and then use iDVD to make them
into DVD's. It takes a lot of hard drive space for this way.

Each hour of video will take up 12GB of space, plus the space to author,
encode, and burn each DV - another 10GB. And, it will take up 5-8 hours of
your computer too, since you have to encode before burning.
