Hi Richard:? I've been using an ION USB turntable for about a year with good results.? My intel iMac had no problem recognizing it.? The Audacity software supplied with it is straightforward.? I have several thousand vinyl albums to digitize.? It's a bit more time consuming than I first imagined.? The real time play-through of the album is enjoyable.? I hadn't played the albums much lately and forgot how short an album side is.? The only tedius part for me is, after the digital files have been created, to attach song titles to the tracks.? It's no big deal, and is well worth the little extra effort.??The rub is that?I don't typically practice good organizational skills and the extra step takes me?about a click or two beyond my attention span.

As for finished product, I don't spend any time cleaning up the tracks beyond the basic noise reduction.? Whatever pops and crackles remain after that I just leave in.? Actually, they're a nice anachronistic touch when they play through the ipod.
