[MV] speech recognition for kids

I am planning to get some speech recognition software for my almost 11 year old son who has severe handwriting problems.  I want it to run on mac osx, and I want it be editable by voice and fairly easy to use.  The front runner so far is macspeech, but I want to check with other folks who might have experience or info that would be helpful.
