safari questions

I run the latest safari browswer sometimes, but for somethings I 
don't run it because it doesn't seem to support the activeX stuff 
from microsoft.  I looked in the preferences panels of safari but 
besides the java script activation box...there's nothing that seems 
like it would help.

I run a few programs that are initiated through the browser, they 
work fine with explorer, but not with safari.

suggestions?
