Even MacIE doesn't truly support ActiveX, most of which were written for
Wintel, and which is native x86 code (there is no "emulated" ActiveX).

It *sounds* like those programs may actually be either Java or Javascript,
and want specific settings.

For example, weather.com's animated weather maps don't seem to work for me
under Safari, but they work fine under IE. (Yes, I reported the bug)
